The law firm of M.D. Gibson & Bolen P.C. conducts a general business practice of law, with emphasis in real estate, commercial and residential mortgage loan matters, foreclosures, corporate law, creditor’s rights, and construction law. Our firm represents a variety of commercial clients ranging from nationwide savings banks to independent businesses and entrepreneurs. We have special expertise in the field of real estate, with emphasis in the areas of major commercial real estate lending, real estate acquisitions and development, foreclosures, and related commercial litigation. We are approved attorneys of the FDIC, and have handled workouts nationwide. We offer foreclosure services in all counties in the State of Texas and maintain a statewide network of substitute trustees to conduct such sales.

M.D. Gibson & Bolen P.C. is comprised of three (3) attorneys, four (4) paralegals, and additional administrative staff, all of whom are experienced in real estate and business practice.


Malcolm Gibson

Malcolm D. Gibson, Attorney

Malcolm D. Gibson (Mack) is a native Houstonian and President of the law firm of M.D. Gibson & Bolen, P.C., Attorneys at Law.

Mr. Gibson is a member of the State Bar of Texas and also licensed to practice in all Fifth Circuit Federal Courts. He is a member of the Real Estate Law Section of the Houston Bar Association and serves on a number of volunteer boards including the Houston West Chamber of Commerce, the Commercial Real Estate Network, and the Houston Mortgage Bankers Association. Mr. Gibson is a frequent speaker and author in the field of real estate law and a newspaper columnist.

John Bolen

John Bolen, Attorney

John Bolen focuses his practice on commercial real estate transactions and financing. He works with both lenders and developers in connection with their real estate needs. As lender’s counsel, Mr. Bolen represents financial institutions in all aspects of commercial lending, with emphasis on real estate and secured lending. As developer’s counsel, he assists with the acquisition, disposition, leasing and financing of commercial real estate projects. Mr. Bolen several small businesses with their general business needs.

Brandon Collins - main

Brandon Collins, Attorney

Mr. Collins’ practice areas include commercial and residential real estate transactions, real estate development and property owner’s association law, foreclosure cases including workouts, corporate law, banking law and commercial law. He regularly advises clients on contractual matters, financing, leasing, title, 1031 tax-free exchanges, mortgage licensing requirements, mortgage servicing compliance, Texas 50(A)(6) Home Equity Lending compliance and restrictive covenant issues affecting real estate. He has performed and managed all aspects of commercial and residential real estate transactions from both a lender and borrower’s perspective.

Mr. Collins has advised and counseled financial institutions on regulatory matters involving Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) and its implementing Regulation X, Truth-In-Lending Act (TILA) and its implementing Regulation Z, the SAFE Act, including its Texas counterpart, T-SAFE, and various other mortgage banking regulations and Texas law. He represents both borrowers and commercial lenders (ranging from local community banks to national institutions) in all aspects of commercial loan transactions, including, but not limited to, real estate and construction financing and asset-based lending.
He also counsels clients on business matters such as corporate formation (choice of entities from limited liability companies to corporations) and general operational matters.

Renee Wells

Renee Wells, Real Estate Lending Manager

Renee Wells began her career with Texas real estate transactions in 1976 in the Texas Land Title industry before becoming a part of the legal aspect of our industry in 1982. Ms. Wells currently manages the firm’s Residential Mortgage Lending department which oversees the review, preparation and fulfillment services for our various mortgage Brokers and Correspondent clients on behalf of numerous investors.
